The humanities rely on interaction and the exchange of ideas, and so do humanities programs. With this in mind, ten graduate students and faculty members from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and El Paso Community College (EPCC) spent two packed and exciting days at the conference on “Community Colleges and the Future of the Humanities” at the CUNY Graduate Center in Manhattan and LaGuardia Community College in Queens on October 18 and 19, 2018.
One of the most under-appreciated problems encountered by humanities students is the sometimes-overwhelming nature of research. However, as an undergraduate, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work as a researcher under the SURPASS COURI and MERITUS COURI. COURI (Campus Office of Undergraduate Research Initiatives) is a great opportunity for undergraduates at The University of Texas at El Paso to gain experience in their chosen academic fields.
